THE City of Harare has begun an exercise to integrate prepaid water meters installed in different suburbs of the city into its Geographic Information System (GIS) database.
In a notice to Ward 16 residents, Ward 16 Councillor Denford Ngadziore said the exercise starts today and forms part of efforts to enhance the city’s water management and billing systems.
“The purpose of the exercise is to connect the prepaid water meters to the Geographic Information System (GIS) database,” said Cllr Ngadziore.
He urged residents to cooperate with council officials in carrying out the programme.
“Residents are kindly requested to cooperate with the City of Harare team during this exercise,” he said.
Cllr Ngadziore assured residents that all personnel involved in the operation would carry valid City of Harare identification cards.
“All officials involved will carry a valid City of Harare identity card for identification purposes,” he said.
The GIS integration exercise is expected to improve the monitoring and management of prepaid water meter infrastructure, while enhancing the accuracy of customer information and service delivery across the city.
