HARARE - Financial services giant CBZ Bank Limited has come on board as the official kit sponsor for the Sables for today’s Rugby Afrique Division 1A Championship match against Tunisia at Prince Edward School.
“This sponsorship is for this year. We had initially not put rugby on our radar this year but this was a special consideration after the discussions we had with Zimbabwe Rugby Union where we discussed how we can come in to assist,” said CBZ head group marketing and corporate affairs, Eldrette Shereni.
“So we have sponsored a kit to the value of $10 000. We feel our brand resonates with the vision of Zimbabwe Rugby Union.”
Zimbabwe Rugby Union (ZRU) chief executive Colleen de Jong expressed his gratitude to CBZ Bank Limited, who has an asset base of over $1 billion, for coming on board to assist the Sables.
“We are very grateful to CBZ at this stage of our campaign. Obviously, we have tomorrow’s game then we have another game against Namibia in the Africa Cup and we have the Hong Kong tour coming up. So we hope this is the start for a long and lasting relationship,” De Jonge said.
ZRU also received another boost after Delta Beverages also came on board and are sponsoring the man-of-the-match award for today’s encounter.
Zimbabwe’s last Africa Cup encounter against Kenya last month ended on a low note as there was no announcement of the award even though there was no monetary incentive.
However, Delta Beverages have ensured there is no repeat of the gaffe this time around by providing $500 to be received by the recipient of the award.
Delta will assist with the man-of-the-match award of $500 while Dairibord Zimbabwe and Schweppes have also come on board as subsidiary partners.
