HARARE - Physwell Madhanzi struck two minutes from time to hand Dongo Sawmills their first home win of the season against Whawha at Vengere Stadium yesterday.
Shadreck Mugurasave had lost seven matches going into the match.
An off colour Whawha helped their cause as they never threatened as they even failed to register a single shot on target the whole 90 minutes.
They however, continue to anchor the log with 10 points with the prison wardens a place above them with 12 points.
Dongo Sawmills assistant coach Dananai Chinowawa dedicated the win to their legions of fans who continued to throng the stadium in spite of a string of poor results.
“We are dedicating this win to our fans. They have been coming to support despite that we were not playing well. Our fight against relegation is on and we are hopeful that we are going to avoid the chop," Chinowawa said.
Whawha gaffer Lloyd Mutasa attributed the loss to his team’s failure to create any chances.
“We lost the match because we could not score and we could not create chances,” Mutasa admitted.
