A 26-YEAR-OLD Tsholotsho housemaid, who sexually abused her employer’s 14-year-old son and infected him with a sexually transmitted disease, was yesterday slapped with an effective eight-year jail term for aggravated indecent assault.
Memory Sigabane was convicted and sentenced on her own plea of guilty to the charge when she appeared before Bulawayo regional magistrate Abednicho Ndebele.
Ndebele initially sentenced her to 13 years in jail, but later suspended five years of the sentence on condition of good behaviour.
The court heard on February 1 this year, the boy, whose identity has been withheld, was sleeping in the same bedroom with Sigabane, who was employed by his parents as a maid.
Sigabane woke up during that night and removed the boy’s underpants before forcing him to be intimate with her after which she threatened to assault him if he disclosed the matter to anyone.
However, the offence came to light when the boy started feeling pain on his private parts, resulting in him failing to walk properly.
The problem was then noticed by his school teacher, who quizzed him.
The teenage boy then spilled the beans, leading to Sigabane’s arrest.
