Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa has appealed to the people of Marondera to come in their thousands to vote for Zanu PF candidate for the Marondera Central constituency, Cde Lawrence Katsiru in a by-election set for this Saturday.
Addressing thousands of people at Rudhaka Stadium for the ruling party's final campaign rally in the constituency, Cde Mnangagwa said it is the chance for the people of Marondera to make a statement that Zanu PF is an unstoppable machine.
He also told the supporters that the government has availed 2000 hectares of land to the municipality for housing development.
Cde Mnangagwa was accompanied by National Political Commissar, Cde Saviour Kasukuwere and Politburo members, Professor Jonathan Moyo and Cde Sydney Sekeramayi.
The trio of Cde Kasukuwere, Cde Sekeramayi and Zanu PF Mashonaland East Provincial Chairperson, Cde Joel Biggie Matiza also appealed to the people to come in their thousands.
Cde Katsiru will battle it out against Kingdom Nyika of Freedom Front, Wadzanai Mabika of NCA and Solomon Makaza of Transform Zimbabwe.
Meanwhile, the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) says all is set for the Marondera Central by-election.
The Marondera District Administrator's office was a hive of activity as ZEC was busy deploying ahead of Saturday's by-election.
ZEC Constituency Elections Officer, Collins Muchenjekwa said everything is set for the by-election, which is also being used as a pilot project for the polling station specific voting system.
Marondera Central constituency has 39421 registered voters with 31 polling stations in the 12 wards.
A total of 32000 ballot papers have been distributed.
