Munangagwa’s Cabinet: What a big deflating and depressing fart

Obert Mpofu – Minister Of Home Affairs

President Munangagwa today appointed his cabinet which took all the gas out of the expectations of the children of Zimbabwe. The people had waited in anticipation hoping that Munangagwa who has been in government for 37 years would somehow inject new blood and bring a different impetus to the ailing country. Instead, he chose to stick with the old guard.

Patrick ChinamasaMinister Of Finance
Chinamasa has been an erstwhile ally of Munangagwa. They worked together at the Ministry of Justice, when Munangagwa was Minister and he was Attorney General. He has also been a Deputy Minister of Agriculture, Minister Of Justice and more recently a Minister Of Finance. He was recently demoted by Mugabe to Minister Of CyberSecurity and Threat Mitigation.

Obert Mpofu Minister Of Home AffairsFormer Governor of Matabeleland North Province, was appointed as Minister of Industry and International Trade in mid-April 2005. Mpofu has been at the center of the controversy involving the looting of Chiadzwa diamonds when he was Minister Of Mines. Many Zimbabweans have expressed their disdain at the amount of riches that he ammassed over the period.

Air Mashal Perence Shiri Minister Of Lands, Agriculture and Rural ResettlementHe has been the head of the Air Force Of Zimbabwe. From 1983 to 1984  he was commander of the notorious  Zimbabwean Fifth Brigade. The Fifth Brigade was trained by North Korea instructed and is infamous for brutal massacres of civilians in Matebeleland during that period. Mnangagwa was Minister Of State Security at the time.

Dr Lazarus DokoraMinister Of Health And Child Welfare. He is the incumbent and he has done a dismal job introducing policies that decreased morale withing the service. He also introduced a curriculum that many teachers believe will cause more harm to Zimbabwean students.

Dr David ParirenyatwaMinister Of Health And Child Welfare. He has been in goverment for more that 3 decades as a Deputy Minister and Minister Of Health. He has presided over the gross decline of health systems in the country. Under his watch more than 484 people died of cholera without any government assistance.

Kembo MohadiMinister Of Defence  Security and War Veterans. He has been in government as Deputy Minister of Local Government, Minister of Home Affairs and  Minister of National Security. He has nothing to show of it except that the police he led became more corrupt while the Central Intelligence Organisation that once tortured him have become more brutal.

Ziyambi ZiyambiMinister Of Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs. Ziyambi Ziyambi is the former Deputy Minister of Home Affairs . This is his first full  ministerial appointment

Major General Sibusiso MoyoMinister Of Foreign Affairs. Many know Moyo as the face of the recent coup. He is the soldier who went on national television to annouce the takeover by the military. He was  promoted to Major General from Brigadier General by Mugabe in 2016. He was Chief of Staff Quartermaster of the Zimbabwe National Army.  It is alleged Moyo commanded the military operations in Midlands province during the bloody 2008 runoff period.

Kazembe KazembeMinister Of Sport, Arts and Recreation. Has been a member of ZANU PF  Mashonaland Central Provincial executive. He became popular for being chided by Grace Mugabe at a rally in Bindura.

Dr Mike BimhaMinister Of Industry, Commerce and Enterprise Development. Former Zimbabwe Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce. He is also previously a Board Chairman of Air Zimbabwe. Under his chairmanship Air Zimbabwe declined heavily after being saddled by debts.

July MoyoMinister Of Local Government, public Works and National Housing. He is a former Midlands Governor and politburo member. He was fired from ZANU PF after the infamous Tsholotsho Declaration collapse. He is a long time ally of Mnangagwa.

Sithembiso NyoniMinister Of Women and Youth Affairs. She has been in government for close to two decades now . She was appointed to  Minister of Small and Medium Enterprises Development in 2000.  She has a diploma in rural and social development, an advanced diploma in adult education, and a M.A. in rural social development.

Prof Amon MurwiraMinister  Of Higher Education, Science and Technology Development. Nothing much is known of him but he appears to be a purely technocratic appointment.  He was educated in Netherlands where he specialized in GeoInformatics. He was a lecturer at University Of Zimbabwe. He doesn’t seem to have any known previous engagement in government.

Super MandiwanziraMinister Of ICT and Cyber Security. He is a former TV host.  Former Deputy Minister of Information and incumbent Minister Of ICT. He has been linked to a number scandals at Telecel, Zimpost and the awarding of radio licenses.

Oppah Muchinguri-KashiriTourism and Hospitality. She has been in government since  1980. She has been Minister of Environment, Water and Climate,  Minister of Higher Education and Minister of Women’s Affairs. She no accomplishment of note for all her time in government.

Simon Khaya Moyo – Minister Of Energy And Power Development. Has been an ambassador to South Africa. A ZANU PF chairperson and a  Minister Of Media, Information and Broadcasting Services.

Christopher MutsvangwaMinister Of Information Media and Broadcasting Services. One of the achitects of the coup as a former minister of War Veterans. He worked at ZBC and was also an ambassador to China. Eloquent but has no track record of execution.
