ZANU PF has appointed Cde Ishmael Mada as the new principal of the Herbert Chitepo School of Ideology, taking over from Cde Munyaradzi Machacha who has been elevated to become the party’s National Political Commissar.
Cde Machacha served as head of the school since the advent of the Second Republic in 2017 and Cde Mada’s appointment is with effect from September this year.
The school has been teaching about the country’s foundational and ideological ethos and principles which continue to gain ground among the majority of Zimbabweans and even within SADC.
The foundational ethos of the country align with the philosophical pronouncements by President Mnangagwa, rallying the nation for collective national development epitomised by the mantras: “Nyika inovakawa nevene vayo”, “Building Zimbabwe brick upon brick, stone upon stone” and “Leaving no one and no place behind”.
The philosophical pronouncements by President Mnangagwa are informed by the party’s “socialist ideology with Zimbabwean characteristics” which directs its own Government to ensure that the country’s God-given natural resources are owned and controlled by the people of Zimbabwe and the wealth in it benefits all.
The impact of programmes offered by the school have had a stabilisation effect on the national economic development agenda and enhanced the industrialisation thrust as the nation marches towards achieving vision 2030.
As explained in the ZANU PF’s Central Committee report produced at the end of the party’s National Annual People’s Conference held in Bulawayo, Chitepo School of Ideology carried out a number of activities designed to support the party’s mass mobilisation efforts.
“Riding on the Commissariat Department polling-station based mobilisation strategy, the school organised a number of workshops targeting different segments of society.
“These programmes were conducted to equip participants with historical and ideological knowledge of Zanu PF’s revolutionary experience accumulated over the years.
“During the period under review, the school enhanced its working relationship and capacitated training institutions of the Government and non-governmental organisations,” reads part of the Central Committee report.
More than 1 500 members from these institutions attended the Basic Orientation Course induction workshops countrywide.
The Commissariat Department through its Returnees Desk, Kumusha Home Ekhaya, partnered with Chitepo School of Ideology to train its members who had returned to Zanu PF from opposition political parties.
During the period under review, the school trained 1 070 KHE members on Basic Orientation Course at Dadaya National Youth Service Training Centre in Zvishavane, Manjolo Business Centre in Binga Rural District Ward 7 as well as Jambezi Growth Point in Hwange East.
Meanwhile, the party has completed the construction of the million-dollar state-of-the-art Herbert Chitepo School of Ideology headquarters at the south-east corner of Samora Machel Avenue and Simon Muzenda Street in Harare.
President Mnangagwa, who is the brains behind the construction of the ideological school, is expected to officially open it at a date to be advised. The building has six classrooms with a carrying capacity of 360 students per enrolment. There is a canteen and an information technology centre.
The enrolment is open to anyone willing to go through the school’s courses.
Students will undergo a basic orientation course which is designed to offer ideological orientation to all sectors of Zimbabwean society “leaving no one and no place behind”.
