The City of Harare has extended its rates discount period to March 7, 2026, as part of efforts to encourage timely payments and support the capital’s transformation into a “Smart City of Choice by 2030.”
Town clerk, Engineer Phakamile Moyo, said in a statement that the extension aims to give ratepayers more time to settle their accounts while benefiting from the discount.
“Let us continue to support the ‘Harare, A Smart City of Choice by 2030’ vision by paying our bills and rates,” he said.
Residents and businesses can pay their rates through the City of Harare’s multiple platforms, including the bank, mobile money options such as EcoCash and OneWallet and online payments.
Eng Moyo said ratepayers could check their balances on their automated platforms and request bills via gmutasa@hararecity.co.zw.
He said the extension is part of its broader push to mobilise resources for service delivery improvements, infrastructure rehabilitation and digitalisation initiatives under the Smart City blueprint.
“Together we can make Harare a smart city,” Eng Moyo said, urging all residents to take advantage of the extended discount period.
