Government, through the Presidential and National Scholarship Programme, has extended a lifeline to academically gifted learners in Mashonaland West to advance their education.
Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister, Marian Chombo, called on those seeking to pursue graduate and postgraduate studies to approach her office for assistance.
The opportunity, said Minister Chombo, would benefit mostly children coming from disadvantaged backgrounds.
“Today, I bring good news of a programme supported by our President Dr E.D. Mnangagwa of the Presidential and National Scholarship Programme 2026/2027,” she said.
“This is a very important programme for us as Mashonaland West Province to help our academically gifted children to progress with their education.”
The programme, she said, enables eligible learners to advance their education locally or in other countries.
This is part of measures to upgrade the country’s skills base in various fields, including science and technology, engineering and mathematics, among others.
“Government is committed to assisting gifted children to gain expertise in various fields, which is a key step in the attainment of Vision 2030,” she said.
Officials from the Presidential and National Scholarships will be in Chinhoyi from February 23 to 27, 2026.
Eligible students are those who managed to get 10 points or better at A Level, two references and degree certificates or transcripts for those pursuing postgraduate studies.
