A fire believed to have been caused by a faulty sauna has ravaged the Madrid residence of Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr.
The Brazilian international, who is currently away on national duty, was not at home when the blaze erupted at his mansion in the exclusive La Moraleja neighbourhood, north of the Spanish capital in Alcobendas.
Spanish emergency services confirmed they were alerted to the incident around 11 a.m. on Thursday. Firefighters swiftly responded and managed to extinguish the blaze within an hour.
Preliminary reports suggest that an electrical malfunction in the basement sauna triggered the fire. According to Spanish outlet AS, the sauna was “completely destroyed,” while thick smoke caused significant damage throughout the rest of the property.
Fortunately, no injuries or cases of smoke inhalation were reported. Authorities have since launched an investigation to determine the precise cause of the electrical fault and assess the full extent of the damage.
