A SUSPECTED fraudster, Mavis Java Madzivanzira, was yesterday dragged to court facing fresh fraud allegations involving US$75,000.

Madzivanzira, who is the sister of Prophet Passion Java, has numerous pending cases at the Harare magistrates court involving fraud.

She is a former employee of the City of Harare.

Prosecutors claim that in December last year, the complainant was looking for a residential stand to buy in and around Harare.

Madzivanzira, together with her accomplice Danai Mawire who is still at large, got the information and offered the complainant Stand number 877 Quinnington Township of Stand 163 Quinnington Township, Harare.

They allegedly used fraudulent documents, which they claimed were from the City of Harare, and charged the complainant US$75,000.

The offence came to light when the complainant approached the City of Harare for plan approval and was told that the stand was not a property of the City of Harare but was privately owned.

He engaged Madzivanzira who allegedly then became evasive.

This prompted the complainant to report the matter to the police leading her arrest.

She was released on US$300 bail and was ordered not to interfere with witnesses until the matter is finalised.

She was also ordered to report twice a week at CID Commercial Crimes Division.

Takudzwa Jambawo appeared for the State.
