PRESIDENTIAL Investment Advisor Dr Paul Tungwarara has called on beneficiaries of empowerment funds to use the resources wisely and resist the temptation to politicise the initiative.

Speaking at the disbursement of funds to ZANU PF affiliates in Mutare yesterday, Dr Tungwarara described the empowerment initiative as a tool for unity and grassroots economic transformation.

He added that the programme reflects President Mnangagwa’s listening leadership and commitment to inclusive development under the mantra “leaving no one and no place behind.”

“The funds being disbursed today (yesterday) are not from a faithless Government department; they are a direct investment from His Excellency (President Mnangagwa),” he said.

“The President has listened to your struggles, understood your ambitions and he is responding with action. This programme is not about politics; it is about progress. We must stand as a united force resistant to divisive politics. The involvement of His Excellency is for every citizen who believes in the national vision. Our task is to use these funds to build, not to divide.”

Among the beneficiaries were several community-based organisations and associations including the National Multi-Faith Economic Dialogue (NAMFED), which received US$50 000, the Vapostori and VaZion for ED and Children of War Veterans who also got US$50 000 each while Cross-Border Traders for ED, Hairdressers for ED, Health Ambassadors for ED, Boys Dzamudhara, Vendors for ED and Pastors for ED each received US$20 000. Dr Tungwarara urged beneficiaries to prioritise productivity and accountability, emphasising that the empowerment funds were a revolving facility meant to benefit future recipients as well.

“Use these funds exclusively for development purposes,” he said.

“If you are a hairdresser, use this to buy more stock. If you are a trader or pastor, initiate a project that creates employment or secures your family’s future. This is a revolving fund; use it wisely so that others can benefit too.”

Dr Tungwarara added that the initiative is part of a broader national effort to unlock economic potential at the grassroots level, supporting small businesses, cooperatives and community-based projects across all provinces.

“This fund carries a serious responsibility,” said Dr Tungwarara.

“It represents a declaration that the future of Zimbabwe will be built from the grassroots up. Our strength lies in unity and our progress depends on integrity.”

ZANU PF National Political Commissar Cde Munyaradzi Machacha said empowerment initiatives were a critical bridge between policy and the people, aimed at ensuring that ordinary Zimbabweans actively participate in the nation’s economic revival.

“This day is to create avenues that will sustain families,” he said.

“Our empowerment drive is not about politics but about productivity. We are putting tools directly in the hands of citizens who are the real drivers of Vision 2030.”

Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution for Manicaland Province Advocate Misheck Mugadza emphasised that empowerment was a cornerstone of national unity and a tool for poverty eradication.

“When we empower every group from the youth to the veterans, from entrepreneurs to spiritual leaders, we are strengthening the foundation of our nation,” he said. “The President’s mantra of leaving no one and no place behind is not just a slogan. It is a mission.”

NAMFED chief convener Mr Obey Mapuranga said faith leaders will support the President’s leadership and Vision 2030.

“We believe that the spirit of God has ordained President Mnangagwa’s leadership and we stand in support of his vision for economic development through NAMFED. As a faith community, we pledge to support the President during the upcoming elections and beyond.”
