Two journalists from Zimpapers Television Network (ZTN), Sharon Munjenjema and Hastings Zeleman, were involved in a road accident today while travelling to Mashonaland West province.
In a statement, Zimpapers Acting Editorial Executive Mr Elias Mambo confirmed the incident.
“We regret to inform the public about a car accident involving two of our dedicated reporters from Zimpapers, Hastings Zeleman, a photojournalist, and Sharon Munjenjema, a reporter,” said Mr Mambo.
“The incident occurred near Nyabira while they were on duty, travelling in the convoy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs during a tour around the provinces.”
He reassured the public about the journalists’ current conditions.
“We are relieved to report that Sharon has received prompt medical attention and has since been discharged from hospital.
“However, Hastings has been admitted to a local hospital in Harare for further evaluation and treatment,” he said.
Mr Mambo said that Zimpapers will keep the public informed about Hastings’ recovery and expressed gratitude for the community’s support during this difficult period.
“Our thoughts are with both Hastings and Sharon during this time, and we are closely monitoring Hastings’ condition.
“The safety and well-being of our team members are our utmost priority, and we are providing all necessary support to them and their families,” said Mr Mambo.
