President Mnangagwa left Luanda, Angola, this afternoon after attending the country’s 50th independence anniversary celebrations.
He joined fellow Heads of State and Government at a colourful event featuring military and cultural displays that delighted the dignitaries.
The military displays received a standing ovation as Angola showcased its capabilities in ground forces, air force, and naval hardware.
The cultural performances highlighted the nation’s rich heritage that is deeply rooted in its history.
President Mnangagwa, together with his counterparts, joined host President João Lourenço in laying a wreath to honour the fighters who sacrificed their lives for Angola’s independence, achieved on 11 November 1975.
Following this, President Lourenço delivered his keynote address, commending fellow African leaders for their solidarity with Angola.
President Mnangagwa was seen off by Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to Angola, Dr Thando Madzvamuse.
