President Mnangagwa has returned from Angola, where he attended the country’s 50th independence anniversary commemorations.

Speaking upon arrival at the Robert Gabriel Mugabe International Airport this evening, the President said the celebrations went very well.

“It was truly fantastic. The event was well attended by several Heads of State, and I believe it went very, very well.

“One could see the happiness, the strong attendance, and the progress they have made, given what they have achieved,” he said.

The President noted that Angola is confidently moving forward as a sovereign state, with its modernisation serving as clear evidence.

“The displays by the Angolan military reflected the country’s forward march.

“They have modernised the army and so on. One admires the level of equipment they now possess as a sovereign, independent African nation,” he added.

President Mnangagwa was welcomed by Vice Presidents Dr Constantino Chiwenga and Dr Kembo Mohadi, Cabinet Ministers, Service Chiefs, and other senior Government officials.
