City Parking has distanced itself from a tragic road traffic accident that claimed the life of a motorist Mr Blessing Mangezi on Wednesday, January 7th, at the intersection of Robert Mugabe Way and Angwa Street, denying any involvement in the lead-up to the tragedy.
The statement follows intense social media speculation suggesting that the motorist may have been fleeing from or engaged in a confrontation with parking enforcement agents when the accident occurred.
In a formal press release issued by City Parking on Friday, the company said the vehicle involved was not under any enforcement action at the time of the crash.
“In response to speculation circulating on social media, we would like to clarify that City Parking had no involvement with the vehicle in question at the time of the incident. There was no outstanding transaction or interaction with our enforcement agents, and the vehicle had not been clamped by City Parking.
“We issue this statement to provide accurate information to our stakeholders and the public, and to respectfully correct the narrative surrounding this incident.”
City Parking officials also extended their sympathies to those affected by the fatal occurrence.
“We are saddened to learn of the tragic accident that resulted in the loss of life of a motorist on January 7th at Robert Mugabe & Angwa street. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the family and loved ones of the deceased.”
