FOOTBALLER Barnabas Mutuche is embroiled in a maintenance dispute with his first wife, Mary Nyamamuti, following his alleged abandonment of the family since July of last year.

The midfielder, who was with Simba Bhora last season, reportedly offered US$30 for the maintenance of their two children under case number Mutoko M246/25.

During a recent court appearance before a magistrate in Mutoko, he claimed that he is unemployed.

However, the magistrate questioned these assertions and advised Mary to contact his employer to verify his income.

Mary received a letter directing her to approach Simba Bhora Football Club to request Mutuche’s pay slip for the purposes of determining maintenance obligations.

Reports indicate that he stated in court that he is not currently working.

In addition to the maintenance case, Mutuche is facing domestic violence charges after allegedly assaulting his wife in the presence of an alleged girlfriend.

It is believed that the attack was intended to coerce her into withdrawing the maintenance claim.

Allegations also suggest that he abandoned his family in July last year.

Mutuche is scheduled to return to court on January 16.
