A new skills training centre under construction at Muketi Business Centre in Mberengwa District is poised to empower local youth and women, providing them with vital skills to drive economic growth and self-sufficiency.
The initiative is a community collaboration inspired by the national development philosophy Nyika Inovakwa Nevene Vayo / Ilizwe Lakhiwa Ngabanikazi Balo and the Government’s rural industrialisation drive.
Mberengwa Central legislator Cde Tinashe Shumba, said the centre aligns with Government efforts to promote education and vocational training as pillars of community development.
He said that the facility, now over 80 percent complete, is expected to open early next year.
“Once this structure is completed, we will enrol for life-changing courses that are practical and beneficial. The project is in line with the President’s people-centred rural industrialisation drive,” he said.
The centre will offer programmes tailored to modern workforce demands, aiming to equip young people with practical skills to seize opportunities and contribute to their communities.
Cde Shumba emphasised that the centre will also play a critical role in women’s empowerment and job creation.
“President Mnangagwa is saying no one and no place should be left behind. Women too will be able to sustain themselves through the skills they will acquire and will produce goods that meet market demands and generate income,” he said.
The project is seen as a direct step towards achieving the goals of national Vision 2030 by fostering local entrepreneurship and reducing dependency.
