THE 60-metre culverted Nyadangwe Bridge in Hurungwe North has been completed after years of reconstruction since it was washed away in 2018.
The bridge spans Nyadangwe River at the border of Ward 9 and Ward 12 in Hurungwe District and serves communities around the Kazangarare area.
Zanu PF Hurungwe North legislator Cde Pax Muringazuva expressed gratitude to the Second Republic for its commitment to community development.
“The bridge was washed away in 2018 following heavy rains that pounded the area,” Cde Muringazuva said.
“Since then, communities around Kazangarare, which are Chikova, Shamrock Mine, Dete, Taronga and Chetsanga, have been having difficulties in travelling because of the condition of the bridge.
“This is because the bridge gives a link to the nearest clinics and carries a commercial road which is used to transport all forms of economic activities, be it inputs, heavy machinery for mines and other products. Investors were also being scared away because of the condition of the bridge.”
Cde Muringazuva thanked President Mnangagwa for his economic drive, which will see no place and no one left behind. He said the competition of the bridge will go a long way in enhancing economic activities in the district.
He said the bridge will also shorten the distance that people have to travel to access economic and social services.
“People used to walk an extra 30 kilometres to access services, but with the completion of the bridge, the time and distance have been reduced,” he said.
