BUSINESSMAN Wicknell Chivayo’s ex-wife, Sonja Madzikanda, and her mother Tabitha Madzikanda, spent another night in custody.
Their case was postponed to today due to the absence of the magistrate.
The pair initially appeared in court on Wednesday and were remanded to yesterday for the bail ruling.
However, the case could not be heard as magistrate Nyaradzo Manokore was not available because she was not feeling well.
The two are facing cyber bullying and harassment charges.
The pair first appeared before magistrate Manokore on Wednesday.
The State, represented by Monalisa Magwenzi, had indicated that it was not opposed to bail.
But Magistrate Manokore questioned the consent because the State, in its papers, had indicated their intention to oppose bail.
The magistrate asked the State to justify the new position, which prompted her to roll over the matter to yesterday to allow her time to go through the proceedings.
The State alleges that during Chivayo’s marriage with Sonja, she unlawfully accessed his cellphone and downloaded several photographs and videos and shared them with her mother.
The State alleges that she and her mother used artificial intelligence to generate photographs purporting that Chivayo once associated with the President of South Africa, Cyril Ramaphosa.
It is the State’s case that the two unlawfully published photographs and videos which went viral on various social media platforms.
This reportedly caused Chivayo substantial emotional distress and humiliation.
