CAIRO, Egypt — The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed a series of key decisions from its latest Executive Committee meeting, including the allocation of hosting rights for three major youth competitions and the date for the 2026 CAF Super Cup.
Egypt will host the 2027 U-23 Africa Cup of Nations, with the tournament also serving as Africa’s qualifying competition for the football tournament at the 2028 Olympic Games.
Ghana has been awarded the hosting rights for the 2027 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations, while Morocco will stage the 2027 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations, further strengthening the continent’s youth football development calendar.
CAF also approved the date for the 2026 CAF Super Cup, with the continental showpiece scheduled for 8 November 2026 in Pretoria, South Africa. Kick-off has been set for 15:00 local time.
The Super Cup will bring together the winners of CAF’s premier club competitions, providing another major continental fixture for the African football calendar.
Meanwhile, CAF said discussions surrounding the proposed African Nations League remain ongoing, with the competition’s format and potential host countries yet to be finalised.
The Executive Committee also reaffirmed CAF’s position on FIFA leadership, confirming the confederation’s full support for FIFA President Gianni Infantino and the FIFA leadership.
The decision comes amid wider discussions within international football over the future direction, governance and commercial development of the global game.
CAF said it would continue to engage with FIFA and other stakeholders on issues affecting African football, while maintaining its focus on strengthening competitions and expanding opportunities for African national teams and players.
The latest decisions provide further clarity on Africa’s international football calendar, particularly at youth level, while preparations continue for the continent’s major senior and club competitions.
