South African authorities say they have received a full extradition request for a United Kingdom fugitive accused of killing his wife and two daughters.
Ndodana Mkhanyisi Tshuma, a British citizen of Zimbabwean heritage, appeared at the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 27 August, for extradition proceedings and a separate case involving possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
Tshuma was arrested in Johannesburg last month after fleeing the UK days before the bodies of his wife and two children were found at their home in Bedfordshire.
The three victims were buried in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, earlier this month.
Prosecutors told the court that investigations in both matters have been finalised and the State is ready to proceed with the extradition application and the firearm case.
The court also heard that negotiations are underway between the prosecution and the defence over a possible plea deal.
If concluded, Tshuma would plead guilty to the firearm and ammunition charges linked to his arrest.
His lawyer, Chrispen Machingura, said any agreement reached could have implications for the extradition process.
Both matters have been postponed to 8 September. Tshuma remains in custody.
