MASVINGO – Air Zimbabwe has resumed commercial flights to Masvingo after nearly 20 years, with Harare-Masvingo and Victoria Falls-Masvingo routes launched ahead of the 2026 Sanganai/Hlanganani World Tourism Expo.
The national airline made three landings at Masvingo Airport on Saturday, bringing 149 international buyers and delegates for the tourism expo.
Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Barbara Rwodzi said the return of the national airline to Masvingo was a major milestone for the province’s tourism sector.
“Today is the first day the national airline has returned to service Masvingo. We are celebrating the arrival of several flights throughout the morning.” said Rwodzi.
The flights are part of efforts to improve connectivity to Masvingo and expose the province’s tourism, agriculture, mining and heritage attractions to international visitors.
During the expo, delegates are expected to visit Gonarezhou National Park, Tugwi-Mukosi Dam and Hippo Valley sugarcane plantations, among other attractions.
Rwodzi said the province had much more to offer beyond its traditional tourism destinations.
“Zimbabwe’s tourism extends far beyond Victoria Falls. Masvingo has diverse natural attractions, heritage sites, and provincial destinations that we want the world to see,” she said.
The resumption of flights is expected to support tourism and business travel while improving access to Masvingo for domestic and international visitors.
