Scripture — Proverbs 18:21 (NIV)
«“The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.”»
Confession, in the biblical sense, comes from the Greek word homologeō, which means to say the same thing God says. As believers, we must learn to say it before we see it. In the Kingdom of God, saying comes before seeing.
We must speak what the Word of God says about us. It is important to see ourselves the way God sees us. According to Ephesians 2:4–6, we are seated together with Christ in the heavenly places. This is our position in Christ.
We must therefore learn to speak life—not only over ourselves and our families, but also over our nation.
Zimbabwe is going through different challenges, just like many nations around the world. However, as Christians, we must be careful about the words we speak. We cannot build a nation by constantly speaking destruction, hopelessness and defeat over it.
This does not mean that we ignore the problems around us. It means that we refuse to allow our circumstances to dictate our faith.
There are times when the economy is difficult. There are families struggling to pay school fees, pay rent or meet their daily needs. There are young people wondering about their future. There are communities facing different challenges.
Yet, even in difficult seasons, we must continue to speak life.
The Word of God says:
“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
We must believe that God is still at work. We must believe that Zimbabwe has a future. We must believe that our young people have a purpose. We must believe that our families can be restored, our communities strengthened and our nation transformed.
The tongue has power.
What we repeatedly say can influence how we think, how we act and how we respond to the circumstances around us. Therefore, let us be a people who speak words that are consistent with God’s Word.
Let us stop declaring that everything is finished.
Let us stop speaking as though there is no hope.
Let us stop allowing temporary circumstances to define our future.
Instead, let us speak faith, wisdom, peace, unity, righteousness, prosperity and hope.
As Christians, we have a responsibility to become voices of hope in our communities. When others are speaking despair, let the Church speak faith. When others are speaking division, let the Church speak reconciliation. When others are speaking hopelessness, let the Church remind people that God is still sovereign.
We are not called to deny reality. We are called to confront reality with faith.
Our confession must not be empty positive thinking. It must be rooted in the Word of God. We speak because we believe God is able to do what He has promised.
Maybe you are personally facing a difficult season. Speak the Word.
Maybe your family is going through challenges. Speak the Word.
Maybe your business is struggling. Speak the Word.
Maybe you are uncertain about your future. Speak the Word.
And as a nation, when we face difficult seasons, let us also speak life.
Declare boldly:
“Zimbabwe has a future.”
“Our nation will not be destroyed by its challenges.”
“God is raising a generation of people who will serve with integrity, wisdom and courage.”
“Our families will be strengthened.”
“Our young people will fulfil their God-given purpose.”
“We will see better days.”
Above all, let our declarations be anchored in Jesus Christ.
God loves us deeply. He has not abandoned us. We were not created to live permanently under the shadow of fear and hopelessness. Through Christ, we have hope.
Let us speak life. Let us speak faith. Let us speak hope. Let us speak God’s Word.
Zimbabwe needs voices of hope.
And perhaps, in this generation, the Church must become one of those voices.
Prayer
Dear Father, I thank You for Zimbabwe and for the people of this nation. Help us as Christians to become voices of hope, faith and wisdom.
Teach us to speak words that bring life rather than words that produce fear, hatred and hopelessness. Give our leaders wisdom, give families strength, give young people direction and give the Church courage to fulfil its responsibility in society.
Even when we face difficult circumstances, help us to remember that You are still God and that our hope is in You.
May Zimbabwe experience peace, unity, righteousness, restoration and transformation.
In the mighty Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
Daily Confession
I am born of God, and I am an overcomer.
I am seated with Christ in heavenly places.
The life of God is at work in me.
I will speak words of faith, hope and wisdom.
My family is blessed.
My generation has a purpose.
Zimbabwe has a future.
God is still at work in our nation.
Through Christ, I walk in victory every day.
