Source: Kariba Boat Disaster Death Toll Rises To 93 As Police Identify 39 More Victims ⋆ Pindula News
The death toll from the Kariba Rural Infrastructure Development Agency (RIDA) boat accident has risen to 93 as of 11 AM today, 18 August 2026.
Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the latest figure and released the names of 39 victims who have been positively identified by their next of kin.
The latest identifications bring the total number of victims identified so far to 83, after 44 victims were identified on 14 August 2026.
Commissioner Nyathi said the ZRP continues to work closely with relevant authorities and families to identify the remaining victims.
He urged members of the public who have relatives or close associates still unaccounted for following the accident to contact their local police station or approach the Command Centre in Kariba for assistance.
