Youths should harness economic opportunities created by the Second Republic while emulating the values of the nation’s forefathers, Zanu PF national chairman, Cde Oppah Muchinguri-Kashiri, has said.
In a recent interview, Cde Muchinguri-Kashiri, who is also the Minister of Defence, stressed the need for discipline and moral integrity among the youth.
“My message to the youth is this: We have inherited our country from leaders who believed that unity is the key to unlocking opportunities.
“It is essential for the youth to know that all Zimbabweans have the freedom to pursue their dreams openly and participate equally in every sphere, be it the economy, politics, or social life.
“Opportunities have been made available for every Zimbabwean to pursue education, and we have excelled as a result. In the economy, we are witnessing the active participation of all Zimbabweans in contributing to our nation’s success. “Today, Zimbabwe is recognised as one of the fastest-developing economies,” she said.
According to Cde Muchinguri-Kashiri, the growth of the tourism sector presents multiple opportunities. She attributed the sector’s success to the nation’s stability: “Zimbabwe’s tourism is thriving because of the prevailing unity and peace. It is imperative that we capitalise on these openings for economic growth.” Stressing the enduring importance of national values, Cde Muchinguri-Kashiri said Zimbabwe’s nationhood required vigilant protection.
“A promising future for the youth depends on unity, effective collaboration and the principle of selflessness. They must follow the path laid by the nation’s liberators.” She underscored the need to eliminate greed and corruption, advocating for a mindset that prioritises others before oneself. Unity, Cde Muchinguri-Kashiri said, is a crucial ingredient for peace and development.
“Our elections have become a source of envy for many countries. Every observer has noted that the environment during our elections was peaceful. This serenity is reflected in our economic growth and the influx of investments. We must not squander this opportunity; it is essential that we continue to follow in the footsteps of our forefathers,” she said.
The Government’s renewed focus on entrepreneurship development, particularly among the youth, is emerging as a cornerstone of the economic transformation agenda under the National Development Strategy 2.
