IT has long been coming, and finally changes are expected to take place at Harare giants Dynamos where a new executive committee is expected to be unveiled by tomorrow following the sacking of the management team that was led by Moses Maunganidze.

The ailing giants, who fought relegation until the last day of the campaign this year, are set for a leadership renewal after club supremo Bernard Marriot announced the dissolution of the club’s executive committee yesterday.

After weeks of speculation, Marriot wielded the axe on the Christmas Eve on Maungandize and his crew, which included vice-chairman Clemence Chimbari, treasurer Justice Mubayi, David Chikomo who was the committee member responsible for marketing and media and the longest serving member of the committee, Webster Marechera (secretary-general).

Zimpapers Sports Hub is reliably informed a new leadership most likely to be fronted by former executive vice-chairman Vincent Chawonza, will be installed on Boxing Day.

Marriot, however, could not hint on the new man to lead the side.

But he said in a statement that the club management led by Maunganidze has been dismissed due to their “failure to run the club appropriately.” Maunganidze had been in charge since November 2022 when he replaced Isaiah Mupfurutsa.

“It’s with a heavy heart that l, Bernard Marriott Lusengo, Board Chairman of Dynamos FC, announce the immediate dissolution of the club’s entire-executive leadership due to failure to run the club appropriately,” he said in a statement.

He also indicated that the decision had been informed by concerns from the Dynamos stakeholders, who apparently had expressed concern over the shortcomings in the team’s leadership.

The new executive committee will be mandated to bring back the gloss to the Glamour Boys, who pride themselves as the country’s most successful club with 21 league titles and a CAF Champions League silver medal. But of late, their supporters and sponsors were not happy with the decline.

“Our supporters and stakeholders remain our top priority,” Marriot said. “You are the true custodians of this great club, and your concerns have been heard. This decision is intended to restore sanity, stability, and a winning mentality at Dynamos FC.

“The Board is fully committed to working tirelessly to return the club to its rightful place of glory. We thank you for your continued support during this period of transition,” said Marriot in a statement.

Dynamos players received their salaries yesterday from principal sponsor Sakunda Holdings, to cheer their spirits ahead of today’s Christmas holiday.

But the leadership vacuum is expected to be filled by tomorrow, as DeMbare find themselves behind some of their rivals in the league, who have already started laying down markers for the 2026 season.

However, Dynamos’ incoming executive committee has already been established and has started working behind the scenes to identify a new coach and players to replenish their arsenal ahead of the 2026 season.

Among their targets for the head coach’s job are former employees Genesis Mangombe and Tonderai Ndiraya, who have done well with other clubs after parting ways with the Glamour Boys.

Dynamos recently lost head coach Kelvin Kaindu, who had worked wonders to ensure the team avoided the chop after a horrendous season under Lloyd Chigowe and then Saul Chaminuka.

Kaindu also helped the Glamour Boys retain the Chibuku Super Cup for a historic third consecutive season, enabling them to keep the silverware for good as a souvenir, according to the tournament rules.

The Glamour Boys were also on the verge of losing a sizeable number of players, with goalkeeper Prince Tafiremutsa, midfielder Vusa Ngwenya linked with Scottland while captain Emmanuel Jalai is a wanted man in the league.

DeMbare’s new executive is expected to convince key players to stay and also beef up with quality players to challenge for honours.
