Notorious armed robbers Taurai Dodzo, Lucky Mhungu and Webster Dodzo have appeared in court facing fresh armed robbery charges.
The three were not asked to plead when they appeared before Harare Magistrate Marewanazvo Gofa, who remanded them in custody where they are being held for other offences.
The court heard that on April 25, the trio connived with Stanley Makurumidze, who was already convicted and is serving a 30 year jail term at Whawha prison, Wellington Chamunorwa Chiendambuya and Jacob Sibanda who are currently serving a seven year jail term at Kadoma prison to steal from the complainant.
They went to Mirirai Mawere’s home, armed with pistols and machetes and threatened to kill her if she failed to surrender money to them.
They went on to rob her of cash amounting to US$8 030, and two cellphones.
They forced her into her car, a silver Toyota Fortuner motor drove off from the scene.
They dumped her and her car in Mvuma where she filed a police report.
On April 29, the gang struck again and broke into Tadiwa Mabonga’s residence in Northlea, Gweru armed with pistols and machetes.
They threatened to kill her prompting her to surrender US$2480 and two cellphones.
On May 13, they broke into Simbai Mashungupa’s residence in Southview Gweru.
They threatened to kill him prompting him to surrender cash US$6000, four cellphones, a pistol with seven rounds and a Honda Fit.
The car was found dumped in a bushy area with all the phones inside.
