THE farming communities of Guruve have been plunged into more terror after a suspected serial killer claimed two more lives on Thursday.
A 55-year-old woman and a six-month-old infant, were slain in cold blood, bringing the death toll to 10 in a series of brutal attacks that have gripped the district.
The latest victims were found with severe head injuries at Farm 88 in Nyakapupu, Guruve, police confirmed.
Authorities have named Anymore Zvitsva (32) as the prime suspect and have launched an intensified manhunt supported by drone surveillance, canine units, horse patrols, and specialised tactical teams to hunt him down after he killed five people early this week.
National police spokesperson Commissioner Paul Nyathi issued an update, confirming the murders and appealing for public assistance.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police is investigating the brutal murder of an elderly woman aged 55 and a six-month-old infant at Farm 88, Nyakapupu, Guruve on 18th December 2025,” he said.
In a bid to accelerate the suspect’s capture, police have announced a substantial monetary reward for information leading to Zvitsva’s arrest.
Police Commissioner-General Stephen Mutamba personally pledged the reward, urging anyone with information to contact the National Complaints Desk or local police channels.
“Anyone who gives the information will certainly be rewarded,” Comm Nyathi said, providing contact numbers for the Guruve Police District and dedicated hotlines.
The latest killings follow the horrific murder of five members of the same family last Sunday night at Ona Mapeto Farm in Ward 21.
The victims – a 66-year-old grandmother, her 40-year-old son, 37-year-old daughter, and two grandchildren aged five and two – were stabbed to death in their homestead.
A neighbour who responded to screams found the son still alive, but he later succumbed to his injuries in hospital.
Zvitsva is also linked to the recent murders of Pamela Chipangura (39) and her two children, Kudzai and Tawanda Chipangura, in Zimuna Village, painting a pattern of violence that has left residents fearful and authorities scrambling.
In a community notice issued alongside the manhunt, Comm Nyathi also urged relatives and neighbours not to overlook individuals showing signs of mental instability.
“The public is urged to notify the nearest health facility, social welfare office, or Police Station so that such individuals can be referred to qualified professionals for treatment and support,” he said.
As the search enters a critical phase, Guruve remains on edge – a rural district now shadowed by loss, fear, and an urgent plea for help to end the violence.
