PRESIDENT Mnangagwa has challenged Politburo members to be proactive thought leaders who provide the intellectual and strategic spark necessary to ignite both party growth and accelerated national development.
Addressing the 390th Session of the Politburo at the ZANU PF Headquarters in Harare today, the President—who is also the party’s First Secretary—said the era of passive leadership is over.
He emphasised that every department must now become a high-performance hub dedicated to the seamless execution of Government programmes.

“The Politburo members are expected to lead from the front as thought leaders who guide the generation of ideas to drive party growth and national development,” President Mnangagwa said.
Issuing a stern reminder to those heading the party’s internal structures, he said constitutional adherence is the bedrock of administrative success.
The President linked the regularity of internal party meetings directly to the success of the nation’s broader economic blueprint, the National Development Strategy 2 (NDS2).

President Mnangagwa further implored departments to move away from vague objectives, demanding instead “clearly implementable, time-bound programmes and projects that yield unprecedented results”.

Turning to the economy, the President reaffirmed ZANU PF’s role as the primary architect of Government policy.
He signalled a continuation of bold, consistent, and people-centred interventions aimed at shielding the public while growing the industrial base.
