MAZOWE South legislator Advocate Nobert Mazungunye has begun engaging Ward Development Committees across the constituency to ensure the recently disbursed Constituency Development Fund (CDF) is implemented transparently and benefits communities at grassroots level.

Mazowe South is among constituencies that recently received the CDF, a fund released by Parliament of Zimbabwe to support people-centred development projects identified by local communities.

Adv Mazungunye this week met stakeholders in Ward 14 where he emphasised the need for proper planning, accountability and community participation in utilising the funds.

He said Ward Development Committees play a critical role in identifying priority projects that directly improve the livelihoods of villagers.

“The Constituency Development Fund is meant to uplift our communities and it is therefore important that every dollar is utilised judiciously on projects that respond to the real needs of our people. As leadership at constituency level, we must work closely with Ward Development Committees to ensure transparency, accountability and maximum benefit to the grassroots,” said Advocate Mazungunye.

He also applauded the Second Republic under President Mnangagwa for strengthening Parliament and empowering legislators with resources that enable them to drive development in their constituencies.

“The Second Republic has demonstrated a clear commitment to inclusive development by capacitating Parliament through initiatives such as the Constituency Development Fund. This programme ensures that development planning starts from the people themselves and that communities actively participate in shaping their future,” he said.

Ward representatives welcomed the engagement, saying the consultations would help ensure the funds are channelled towards impactful community projects such as schools, clinics and water infrastructure.

The meetings are expected to continue across other wards as the constituency moves to implement projects under the latest CDF allocation.
