MASHONALAND East Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Advocate Itayi Ndudzo has commended Uzumba Maramba Pfungwe Zvataida Rural District Council (RDC) for channelling funds towards the construction of a clinic in Masiyandima Ward 7.

Nyagande Clinic is not only serving communities in Masiyandima Ward 7, but also others from Shamva District in Mashonaland Central Province.

Built using devolution as well as constituency development funds, the clinic has reduced the distance that Ward 7 residents had to travel to the nearest clinic.

“Commissioning of this clinic is in sync with President Mnangagwa’s mantra that no one and no place should be left behind in terms of development,” he said.

“I am told that for this clinic to be established, a lot of people made significant contributions, from parents, the councillor of this ward, legislators and the local authority. I want to commend you for this.

“Let me profoundly applaud the local authority for this milestone. After receiving devolution funds, you put them to good use and prioritised the well-being and health of people. This is why we have this modern clinic here that we are commissioning today.”

The recently commissioned Nyagande Clinic in ward 7, Uzumba Maramba Pfungwe district was built from devolution funds

Maramba Pfungwe legislator, Cde Tichaona Karumazondo (ZANU PF), said he is happy to see the clinic finally being commissioned after contributing towards the establishment of the health facility.

“I am excited to see this clinic being commissioned. It is pleasing to note that these people gathered here played a role in the establishment of this clinic, and they are happy to see it finally commissioned. They contributed a lot,” he said.

“I want to thank President Mnangagwa for availing devolution as well as constituency development funds, which have been used to build this clinic.

“Our people should not walk for long distances to access health service and this clinic has addressed that challenge.”

Mr Nobert Nyawasha, a resident of Ward 7, said the clinic has reduced the distance walked to the next clinic for services.

“We are excited as Ward 7 residents. This development has come at the right time. We thank President Mnangagwa for remembering us,” he said.

“We used to walk for long distances, either to the Katiyo clinic or the Mutawatawa Hospital to be assisted.

“Some people died before reaching the clinic because of the distance. Now we have our clinic closer to our homes, and this is commendable.”
