SOCIALITE and comedienne Tarisai Cleopatra Munetsiwa, commonly known as Madam Boss, testified in court on Friday about her involvement with the controversial Ponzi scheme E-Creator, which allegedly defrauded victims of over US$300 000.

In her testimony, Madam Boss told the court that she was introduced to the scheme’s leadership by fellow social media personality Admire Mushambi, better known as “Mama Vee”.

She revealed that the accused sought her services to promote their investment company through Facebook advertisements.

“During June 2023, Admire Mushambi informed me that the accused wanted me to market E-Creator, which they described as an investment platform targeted at Zimbabweans,” she said.

Madam Boss reportedly agreed to the request and, along with her manager Fanwell Masunungure, visited the company’s offices in central Harare.

There, they allegedly met with representatives who wanted her and Mushambi to advertise the scheme, promising that it would help people grow their money through investments made via a provided link.

“The job involved encouraging people to invest their money, with promises of profits. They explained that the more one invested, the higher the return,” she testified.

After promoting the company on her Facebook page, Madam Boss was reportedly paid US$700 for her services.

Following this, she decided to invest US$100 personally in the scheme and also persuaded her husband and other relatives to join.

When asked to identify the accused in court, Madam Boss noted that she had previously dealt with different individuals, including Trymore Tapfumanei, Justin Kuchekenya and Abraham Mutambu, who are no longer part of the case.

The accused, Jao Zhao Jiatong and William Chui, are facing fraud charges and are represented by lawyers Moffat Makuvatsine and Claude Bare.

The court also issued a warrant of arrest for Mushambi after he failed to appear for a scheduled court session.

Shelter 7 is also a witness in the case.

Regional magistrate Francis Mapfumo is presiding over the case.
