MORE than 550 local and international exhibitors have secured space for the 2026 Zimbabwe International Trade Fair, signalling strong interest in the country’s premier trade showcase as preparations gather pace ahead of its opening later this month.

The annual exhibition, set to run in Bulawayo from April 20 to 25 under the theme, “Connected Economies, Competitive Industries,” is expected to draw significant participation from business leaders, investors and diplomats, positioning it as a key platform for trade, investment and industrial growth.

Addressing diplomats at an engagement meeting in Harare yesterday, Industry and Commerce Minister Dr Mangaliso Ndlovu said the fair comes at a critical time in Zimbabwe’s economic transformation agenda.

In a speech read on his behalf by the Ministry’s Chief Director, Ms Florence Makombe, Minister Ndlovu said ZITF was a strategic tool for advancing the country’s industrialisation and global trade ambitions.

“The Zimbabwe International Trade Fair is not merely an exhibition; it is a strategic instrument through which we engage the world, showcase our productive capacity, and advance our aspirations for industrial growth, economic transformation and commercial expansion,” he said.

Minister Ndlovu said this year’s theme reflects Government’s thrust to strengthen industrial linkages, deepen integration into regional and global value chains, and enhance competitiveness across key sectors. The Government, he added, remains focused on value addition and beneficiation, modernising industry, and improving the ease of doing business, infrastructure and innovation.

Meanwhile, ZITF Company board chairperson Dr Busisa Moyo said preparations were at an advanced stage, with strong uptake of exhibition space already recorded.

“We have got over 550 exhibitors already that have taken up space at this stage,” said Dr Moyo.
