PROMINENT Bulawayo prophet Archbishop Emmanuel Mutumwa of Johane Masowe wechishanu in Selbourne Park is on Sunday set to hold an anti-drug campaign in the sprawling Cowdray Park suburb.
The renowned prophet said he decided to hold the campaign following growing calls by authorities for cooperation from across the divide in the fight against drug and substance abuse.
Archbishop Mutumwa said there is an urgency to address the prevalence of substance abuse, not just in the suburb but across the country.
“It is heartbreaking to witness the destructive impact of drug abuse on individuals, families, and the entire community. As a prophet, it is my duty to guide and protect our people, and that includes taking a stand against the dangers of drug addiction. People are committing crimes unconsciously because of these drugs, and it is up to us all to fight the scourge,” he said.
The anti-drug campaign, he said, will feature educational workshops interactive sessions, and a march in the suburb designed to engage with residents of all ages.
Archbishop Mutumwa said by fostering a sense of collective responsibility and promoting healthy lifestyle choices, the initiative aims to empower individuals to resist the temptations of drugs and embrace a brighter future free from substance abuse.
“The anti-drug campaign in Cowdray Park suburb represents a significant step towards building a healthier and safer environment for all residents. The campaign is expected to make a tangible difference in raising awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and promoting a drug-free lifestyle,” Archbishop Mutumwa said.
He encouraged residents of the suburb and surrounding areas to participate in the anti-drug campaign.
