A SELF-STYLED prophetess was found with a bucket with body parts − which included teeth, intestines, umbilical cord and some blood − when she was arrested by police after a home delivery of a baby turned tragic in Harare.
Rumbidzayi Sanyamvura, also known as Madzimai Rumbi, is a well-known self-styled prophetess in Glen Norah.
Last week, on Tuesday, a woman died at her home after she approached Madzimai Rumbi to provide her with spiritual help to deliver her child.
The 36-year-old woman, who died in the incident, has been identified as Ms Misoya.
She died shortly after giving birth at Madzimai Rumbi’s house.
She succumbed to complications related to high blood pressure, which were confirmed by a post-mortem done at Sally Mugabe Central Hospital.
On Saturday, police were alerted about the tragic incident.
Madzimai Rumbi then showed them a bucket containing various body parts, including teeth, intestines, umbilical cord and some blood, which she claimed belonged to Ms Misoya.
Madzimai Rumbi was subsequently arrested.
Harare provincial police spokesperson, Inspector Luckmore Chakanza, confirmed the arrest and said Ms Misoya’s burial has been halted pending further investigations.
After burial was stopped, Ms Misoya’s body, and the bucket with body parts, were sent back to Sally Mugabe Hospital for further examinations and DNA testing.
