THE Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) this afternoon seized a total of 177 boxes of fake Domestos products from a local tuckshop in the city’s downtown area, raising concerns about unsafe counterfeit goods circulating in local markets.
Each of the 177 boxes had twenty 750ml of the fake product.
The operation caught the fake bleaching products just after they were delivered by a delivery driver to the tuckshop.
Consumer Protection Commission officials were present at the scene and conducted tests to determine whether the products were indeed counterfeit.
The owner of the tuckshop, who remains unidentified, was said to have travelled to Penhalonga and ZACC officials were awaiting her return at the premises at the time of going to print.
Contacted for comment, ZACC spokesperson Commissioner Kindness Paradza referred the reporter to the commission’s executive secretary, Mr Shepherd Manhivi who said he was yet to get an official report on the matter.
“I am yet to get a report on the matter from the guys on the ground but we will get back to you once we have all the details at hand,” he said.
