IN a flurry of activity, ZANU PF Manicaland has launched the year with a bang – rolling out the Presidential Constituency Empowerment Fund in the remaining nine constituencies, and accelerating the construction of provincial and district party offices.
The party’s renewed energy coincides with the arrival of Presidential Special Advisor, Dr Paul Tungwarara on the provincial scene, as a Central Committee nominee, injecting a shot of adrenaline into the provincial political landscape. The outcome has been a marked improvement in the party’s visibility, particularly in the five districts of Buhera, Chimanimani, Chipinge, Mutasa, and Makoni, where 17 constituencies have received US$25 000 each for community empowerment projects.
The momentum will continue on Sunday, as the party embarks on a similar programme in the Zimunya-Marange administrative district, with Mutare North, Mutare West, and Mutare South constituencies set to receive their share of the Presidential Constituency Empowerment Fund.
ZANU PF provincial chairman, Cde Tawanda Mukodza said the party is picking up from where they left off at the end of 2025.
“We have a programme of action that includes completing our provincial and district offices, implementing constituency and ward-centric empowerment programmes, and mobilising support for President Mnangagwa’s Vision 2030 and Resolution Number One,” he said, adding that the party’s efforts are geared towards uplifting the lives of Manicaland residents and extension of President Mnangagwa’s term to 2030.
Cde Mukodza added that 2026 presents an unprecedented political era.
“It will be better than 2025 by far. You have seen what has happened in a short time in 2025, and now that we have a plan for the whole year, from January to December 2026, we are going to do a lot of things. We are going to empower people in different ways – boreholes are coming, food hampers, agricultural inputs, and empowerment projects for women, youths, and the disabled, among others.
“We are targeting all aspects of life to improve the quality of life of our people in line with Vision 2030. At every level, we need to identify what we can do for the people and ensure that they have something to do to improve their lives. They should have money in their pockets. 2026 is more fired up than 2025. There is no room for sleepers,” said Cde Mukodza.
“We are happy as a province that, as we come to the end of 2025, the Presidential Constituency Empowerment Fund had benefitted more than 16 constituencies, and we are left with a few constituencies. If it was not for the festive season, we could have covered all the constituencies by January 1, 2026, and our target is that between Sunday and January 15, 2026, we should have covered all of them,” he said.
Cde Mukodza said the province was grateful to Cde Tungwarara for making sure that Manicaland was the first beneficiary of the fund.
“It is an advantage to us as a province that the Presidential Advisor comes from here in Chipinge, and he is determined to make sure that we are the first people to be empowered. We are happy that he has agreed to empower Manicaland first before going to other constituencies outside the province.
“Empowerment brings unity among party members as it allows them time to sit down and discuss how the funds should be spent. Instead of pointing fingers at each other, they will sit around the table, and the moment they sit down, it means they will leave with one accord and one direction.
“We are moving with time as a province; if you see the programmes we executed – that was unprecedented. You have never seen that before. The party has been rejuvenated in a big way, and we are carrying that momentum into 2026. Nothing of that magnitude has happened before.
“We are going into a massive mobilisation drive in 2026, rallying support behind President Mnangagwa. We are leaving no one and no place behind in creating one united Manicaland. After this programme, we are going to devolve into each of the 26 constituencies in the province, not districts, but individual constituencies, meaning the empowerment is going to the wards, deep into villages, which thrust will make the party even stronger and more united than before.
“We are reaching out to everyone, and we will not be selective with the empowerment drive. The President wants everyone on board, which is why you are seeing even those from the opposition are joining the bandwagon to get empowered because it is a Presidential fund. The President is for everyone. This makes our structure stronger and stronger because we are recruiting more people every day,” said Cde Mukodza.
He said construction works are in progress in Mutasa District, where the party is building a two-storey party office, valued at US$600 000.
In Makoni a stand has since been secured adjacent Makoni Country Club, with office designs awaiting approval – a significant investment in the party’s infrastructure to enhance operational efficiency and service delivery. Constriction works are also in progress in Chipinge, while building materials continue to be delivered at the provincial site.
