Leading fintech platform, EcoCash, has launched a Super App that integrates payments, chat and explore services into a single application.Developed by Sasai Fintech, a business of Cassava Technologies, the Super App is expected to support digital innovation and financial inclusion in Zimbabwe and across the African continent.
The launch signals EcoCash’s strategic shift towards an integrated digital and social platform that extends beyond traditional financial transacting systems.
In a communique, EcoCash said the launch of its Super App addresses the growing need for a seamless, mobile-first solution to the way people live, chat and transact on a daily basis.
“With mobile devices now central to how people live, work, play and transact every day, we have leveraged mobility to reimagine the EcoCash app so that it delivers a secure, convenient, integrated and seamless digital experience that empowers customers with endless possibilities,” EcoCash said.
A feature of the App is its social payments capability, which allows users to transact within conversations. With social chat now integrated into the EcoCash wallet, users can transact without leaving conversations – no screenshots or app switching required.
The App also includes a built-in bill-splitting functionality that automatically calculates and distributes shared expenses among users.
“Friends chatting about going out to dinner, catching a ride or pooling a car for a school run can now instantly settle their payments within the same conversation. The App automatically calculates each individual’s contribution and splits the bill among them,” EcoCash said.
This is expected to simplify a range of real-life transactions, including group contributions for social events, transport arrangements, medical expenses and other shared financial obligations.
Beyond peer-to-peer transactions, the Super App integrates merchant payments, bill settlements and airtime and data purchases directly into the social feed.
EcoCash said the App is designed to enhance convenience and reduce the time and data costs associated with digital transactions.
The App comes with content monetisation, which enables users to create and share content while earning income directly on the platform.
“We expect this feature to gain traction among Zimbabwe’s growing creative and entrepreneurial community, including digital influencers, musicians, comedians and small business operators,” EcoCash said.
“This transforms social interaction into real economic opportunity, which was a key motivation behind the development of the App. We want to enable creators and innovators to monetise their craft and reach customers directly on our social payments platform.”
The company said the EcoCash Super App marks the beginning of a broader pipeline of innovations, with additional services such as stablecoin-driven remittances and other digital financial solutions expected in the near future. Combined with the Group’s growing investment in Artificial Intelligence, the EcoCash Super App is expected to evolve into an AI-driven platform.
Sasai Fintech, which developed the new EcoCash Super App, recently partnered with Circle – an internet financial platform company – to drive the adoption of stablecoins across Africa.
