BRAVURA, a mining giant focused on platinum exploration in Chegutu and Zvimba districts, has been assured of Government support by Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs and Devolution Minister Marian Chombo.

Their projects are seen as critical in boosting the local economy through job creation.

Bravura, a Pan-African mining company with roots in Nigeria and Ghana, has begun lithium exploration in Kamativi, with plans for commissioning by year end.

The company is also eyeing iron ore mining at Manhize, further diversifying its operations in Zimbabwe. At an introductory meeting in Chinhoyi, Minister Chombo engaged Government officials, traditional leaders and representatives from Chegutu and Zvimba rural district councils.

She expressed optimism regarding Bravura’s investment in the province, stating her office’s readiness to provide the necessary support for the company’s endeavours.

“We are open for business as espoused by President Mnangagwa. As the Minister of State for Mashonaland West Provincial Affairs and Devolution, I am mandated to ensure that investors feel at home,” she stated.

Minister Chombo emphasised that the Bravura project is expected to create numerous jobs for local youth and significantly enhance platinum production, which will contribute to increased revenue for the province.

She pointed out that improving production levels is essential for surpassing other regions in Zimbabwe, aligning with the goals of devolution aimed at uplifting rural living standards.

Minister Chombo also highlighted the importance of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives in the development of local communities.

She urged Bravura to actively engage in such efforts to ensure that the benefits of mining extend beyond profit.

Bravura’s group general manager Mr Ojo Ologuson Bhenga, confirmed the company’s commitment to establishing plants and conducting underground drilling.

He highlighted the company’s understanding of local needs and its dedication to CSR projects.

“In terms of our social responsibility, we have made our commitment to the Minister that everywhere we operate as a business, we are Africans, and so we understand the needs of Africa,” he remarked.

Bravura has prioritised local employment, ensuring that 95 percent of its workforce comprises locals, showcasing its commitment to community upliftment.

The company has already taken delivery of a drilling machine and budgeted for the displacement of affected families, demonstrating its proactive approach.

“We are a mining conglomerate, and we are Pan-African with a footprint in about 14 African countries. We are committed to ensuring that we have a viable project in the years to come,” said Mr Bhenga.
