PRESIDENT MNANGAGWA has arrived in New York to join fellow Heads of State and Government at the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA81).
The President is accompanied by Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Dr Martin Rushwaya, Attorney-General Mrs Virginia Mabiza, Deputy Chief Secretary in the Office of the President and Cabinet (Presidential Communications) Mr George Charamba, among other officials.
This year’s General Debate is being held under the theme “Restoring trust, managing transformation: A United Nations that delivers for all.”
Tomorrow, on the sidelines of the High-Level Week, President Mnangagwa will attend the high-level Zimbabwe Business Forum, coordinated by ZimTrade, the Zimbabwe Investment and Development Agency, and the Zimbabwe Tourism Authority, aimed at unlocking financing for key sectors.
The forum will be held under the theme “Global Challenges. Zimbabwean Solutions. Shared Prosperity.”
A number of critical high-level meetings are scheduled for the participation of Heads of State and Government during the UNGA High-Level Week.
These will cover topics including the Right to Development, Climate Action and the Just Transition; the Existential Threats from Sea-Level Rise; Pandemic Prevention, Preparedness and Response; the Adoption of the Durban Declaration and Programme of Action; and the Commemoration and Promotion of the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons.
