PRESIDENT Mnangagwa will preside over the Zanu PF Women’s League National Assembly meeting in Harare today.
Speaking during a National Consultative meeting held yesterday at the party’s headquarters, Zanu PF National Secretary for the Women’s League, Cde Mabel Chinomona, said: “The President is coming as he always presides over all our National Assemblies. The meeting will set the tone on how best the Women’s League can play a role not only in shaping the party, but also in advancing the country’s vision of achieving an upper-middle-income economy by 2030.”
At the meeting, the ruling party’s Women’s League national executive reviewed its programmes and strategies, reaffirming its unwavering commitment to President Mnangagwa’s leadership and to continue playing a central role in Zimbabwe’s development agenda.
Cde Chinomona said the Assembly would also reflect on key empowerment projects spearheaded by the League, including poultry hatching initiatives and the distribution of sewing equipment.
These projects, she noted, are beginning to bear fruit, particularly in rural communities, where women have become active participants in economic development.
“During the meeting, we are going to give reports on the empowerment projects already rolled out, like the hatching and sewing equipment that the League was given,” Cde Chinomona said.
“These projects are not just symbolic, they are real, practical tools to empower our women on the ground.”
The Women’s League is expected to present detailed progress reports and proposals to the President during the meeting today.
The outcomes are anticipated to influence the League’s programme of action for the remainder of the year and into the next phase of the country’s national development agenda.
Cde Chinomona emphasised the importance of unity of purpose among women across provinces, urging delegates to prioritise collaboration over competition.
“Let us move together as one body. Unity is our strength, and only through it can we achieve what we set out to do,” she said.
“We need to stop working in silos and instead coordinate our efforts. Our strength lies in numbers, discipline and direction. The President’s presence is also a symbol of recognition of the role women are playing in building both the party and the country.”
