PRESIDENT Mnangagwa has appointed a new seven-member Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe (BAZ) Board, tasked with overseeing the regulation and development of the country’s broadcasting industry.
In a statement, permanent secretary in the Ministry of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Mr Nick Mangwana, confirmed the appointments and said they were made in terms of Section 4 (2) of the Broadcasting Services Act (Chapter 12:06).
The new board members are Tendai Jennifer Mandizvidza, Godfrey Mutobaya, Magna Mudyiwa, Caroline Makoni, Cloud Nyamundanda, Chief Serima (Vengai Rushwaya) and Prime Kufakunesu.
The appointments are for a four-year term.
Mr Mangwana emphasised the significance of the development and said: “His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Dr Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa has appointed the following persons as members of the Broadcasting Authority of Zimbabwe Board, for a period of four (4) years.”
The new board is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping Zimbabwe’s broadcasting landscape, ensuring compliance with regulations while fostering growth and innovation in the sector.
