Bespoke shoe designer, Tika Shoes, donated 100 pairs of shoes to Jairos Jiri Naran Centre in Gweru last week as part of the company’s corporate social responsibility programme.

Speaking at the donation handover ceremony in Harare on Wednesday, Tika Shoes managing director Mr Hashmook Naran said the donation will go a long way in helping underprivileged children.

“My father always taught us to assist people in need and that is why we will always maintain a good relationship with the Jairos Jiri Association,” he said.

“We made a decision to donate 60 pairs of shoes every year to Jairos Jiri Centre.

“We also made a commitment to assist this valuable institution in these difficult times every year, and this year, we have decided to give 100 pairs of shoes.”

Speaking at the same event, Jairos Jiri resource mobilisation executive Mrs Grace Kamanga thanked the company for the support.

“We are so grateful and we really appreciate the support from you. These 100 pairs of shoes will be so beneficial to the needy children at our Naran Jairos Jiri Centre.

“These children, most of whom come from very needy families and poor rural backgrounds, cannot afford a pair of shoes,” she said.

“This is really wonderful; children will be so overjoyed to actually have these shoes and put them on and feel like any other children at the school.”

The Jairos Jiri Centre in Gweru, which was donated to the Jairos Jiri Association by the late Prag Naran, provides education for children with hearing impairments from Early Childhood Development (ECD) to Grade Seven.

Tika Shoes sponsors the Sudoku competition in The Sunday Mail.
