VICE President Kembo Mohadi has praised the 66th edition of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF), describing it as a resounding success that reflects high-quality, world-class exhibition standards and a growing tide of international confidence in the nation’s economy.
Speaking to the media shortly after an extensive tour of the exhibition halls and external stands yesterday, VP Mohadi said he was deeply encouraged by the marked evolution of the annual showcase.
“My experience with the 66th Edition of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair has been encouraging, particularly in terms of the quality of exhibitions, standards of presentation, and the diversity of goods and services on display,” he said.
VP Mohadi said the exhibition standards have markedly improved, with exhibitors demonstrating a high level of professionalism in branding, layout, and overall presentation.
“Many stands reflect modern exhibition practices, clear product messaging, interactive displays, and effective use of digital technologies,” he said.
“Indeed, reports indicate that stands have been presented with a high standard of finish and polish, reflecting serious preparation by both local and international participants.
“This is a positive sign that our industries are aligning with global benchmarks.”
VP Mohadi was particularly impressed by the range and quality of goods and services being showcased, spanning sectors such as manufacturing, agriculture, mining, energy, ICT, and services.
He highlighted that the presence of international exhibitors from multiple countries underscores Zimbabwe’s growing re-engagement with the global community.
“Of particular note is the strong emphasis on innovation and value addition. Many exhibitors are no longer simply displaying raw products but are showcasing processed goods, technological solutions, and industrial capabilities. This resonates well with the theme of the 66th edition, ‘Connected Economies, Competitive Industries,’ which seeks to position Zimbabwe within regional and global value chains,” he said.
VP Mohadi further observed that the exhibition has evolved beyond a traditional trade showcase into a comprehensive business platform, hosting forums such as the International Business Conference and the Innovators Forum.
Summarising his assessment, VP Mohadi said the 66th ZITF reflects high-quality, world-class exhibition standards; diverse and competitive goods and services; a strong innovation and industrial focus; and growing international participation and confidence.
“This demonstrates that Zimbabwe’s private sector, together with Government support, is steadily moving towards greater competitiveness, industrialisation, and integration into the global economy,” he said.
However, VP Mohadi noted that while the ZITF has continued to grow in stature, taking it to the next level will require a deliberate shift from being primarily an exhibition platform to becoming a results-driven global trade and investment hub.
He called for deeper internationalisation, strengthening business-to-business outcomes, and embracing digital transformation through hybrid models combining physical and virtual platforms.
He also urged infrastructure modernisation, greater youth participation, and stronger global branding.
VP Mohadi encouraged the private sector to approach the ZITF as a strategic business development platform.
He urged firms to design engaging, interactive displays and to proactively network with Government officials, industry leaders, and regional partners to unlock new markets, particularly within frameworks such as the African Continental Free Trade Area.
The 66th ZITF continues to run in Bulawayo, drawing thousands of visitors and exhibitors from across the globe.
