The City of Bulawayo advises residents, motorists and stakeholders of the temporary closure of certain roads on Thursday this week from 07.00 hours to 17.00hours for the official opening of the 66th edition of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair.
In a statement, town clerk Mr Christopher Dube said Hillside Road from 14th Avenue to 23rd Avenue/Burns Drive intersection and Samuel Parirenyatwa Street from 12th Avenue to 14th Avenue will be temporarily closed during that period.
“Diversion routes between 23rd Avenue/Burns Drive and 12th Avenue intersections will be signposted directing traffic via the Matopos Road and 12th Avenue Extension.
“All junctions off the Hillside Road between 23rd Avenue and 12th Avenue will be closed during the official opening of the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair and will be manned by a traffic management team,” he said.
Mr Dube advised that motorists approaching the Hillside Road within the closed area, intending to travel east or west of the area, will be requested to make a U-turn and use the diversion route.
“Furthermore, motorists approaching the closed area of Hillside Road and intending to travel east or west will be instructed by the traffic management team to make a U-turn and use the designated diversion routes,” said Mr Dube.
“Motorists are advised that, if it is necessary for them to access junctions or properties within the closed area, the traffic management team will assist them navigate through the closure safely.
“The motoring and general public are advised to exercise extreme caution when entering and exiting these locations and to observe all warning signs and to follow instructions of the traffic management team.
“Every effort has been made to ensure disruption of traffic, businesses and residents is kept to a minimum.”
